Skating down these long tunnels masked the games load times so they weren’t wrong. The problem is that they achieved this by connecting vastly separated areas with these massive corridors that featured almost no detail. Technically, they were connected and technically there were no load times. The “massive” open world was still comprised of classic areas like a school, a shopping area and a warehouse-like area. It delivered the same way someone rolling you a burger across the floor is still considered “delivering” food. The game promised two big things: a massive connected open world so you never had to deal with a load screen and an all-star soundtrack. If memory serves me correctly, this was around when I had finally given up on Tony Hawk games.
